Flood rescue boat operation competition at Futala lake on 5th August 2016. The inter- syndicate competition.

The National Civil Defence College while conducting the Annual Flood / Cyclone Disaster First Responders Training Program conducted a flood rescue boat operation competition at Futala lake on 5th August 2016. The inter- syndicate competition required the trainee officers to row the FRB and after crossing the futala lake rescue a marooned person and bring him back to the starting point. The trainee participants showed extreme caution and strength in steering the boats in spite of heavy wind draft that posed a challenge. The Syndicate No.3 boat crew led by Hav. Instructor Surjit Singh of Home Guards Jalandhar, Punjab and consisting of Santon A. Marak, storeman Home Guards, Meghalaya, Jaideep M. Naubati, Central Railway, Mumbai, Santosh Kumar, (DCDI) Diesel Locomotive Works, Varanasi, Faruk Khan, Civil Defence Delhi, Jayanta Boro ADC (CD) Guwahati Assam, Praveen Kumar U/NVK Indian Coast Guard Chennai and Sarangadhara Nayak, U/NVK Indian Coast Guard, Mumbai won the competition clocking of time little over 10 minutes. Significantly the Syndicate No. 2 was the runner up of the event whereas Syndicate No. 4 was the second runner up. The crew of second runner up also consisted of a lady constable GD of the CRPF from Gandhinagar Gujarat.
